The sixth annual Ride for Clean Energy took place on August 11th, once again setting a new record for most amount of riders! Using the same route adopted in 2017, the 53 riders started and ended their rides at the home of the Foundation’s directors Lynn and Graham in Maple Ridge. In addition to these riders, the Ride for Clean Energy boasted one additional participant, who rode remotely; taking on a 90 km route starting in Sopron (Hungary) and ending in Vienna (Austria).
The Ride is set as the Foundation’s primary annual fundraiser and once again proved itself as just that by raising over $20,000 for the third consecutive year. This year’s total fundraised was $22,386. All the funds raised go directly to the Foundation and is crucial for the continued issuing of research grants.
Also new to this year’s ride was the addition of another title sponsor: Wilson M. Beck Insurance Group. In addition to their monetary contribution, WMB put together a corporate team made up of five employees. Additionally, one of the WMB riders, Chris Haag, was the top fundraiser of all the 2018 riders!
The Foundation would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s ride, as well as all the volunteers who made the event possible. We would also like to extend endless gratitude to the 2018 Ride for Clean Energy title sponsors: Patrick O’Brien RBC Dominion Securities, Trek Bicycles Maple Ridge and Wilson M. Beck Insurance Group. Other gracious sponsors include CM Graphic Designs, Emily Pledge Photography, East Van Brewing Company, Sperling Vineyards, Rain City Riders and all those who provided prizes for the raffles and after-party. Lastly, the Foundation would like to thank all those who donated to riders and the Foundation in this year’s ride; without your generous support, the continued success of the Foundation would not be possible.
