2020 Ride updates and new prizes

As we get closer to the 2020 Ride For Clean Energy happening on Saturday August 8th, I just wanted to update everyone on some exciting new details. Aside from the brand new Trek FX3 that will be given away to one rider, courtesy of Maple Ridge Trek, we have gift cards from Trek Maple Ridge and Kintec Footware Maple Ridge that we will also be giving away to some of our registered riders as prizes. Please see below for an overview of the prizes available and how you can enter to win.

Due to current social distancing guidelines, we have also decided to reduce the minimum rider requirement to form a team to 2 riders. That means, you can register as a team with a group of two or more riders. Registering as a team will automatically enter you into the team challenge, the winner of which will receive a prize at the end of the ride. The team that fundraises the most money for the ride will be the winner of the team challenge.

The 2020 Ride For Clean Energy has been formatted to adhere to comply with guidelines set out by our health authorities in order to minimize any risk of transmitting COVID-19. The 2020 Ride will occur remotely in the spirit of riding together while apart. All registered riders will ride their own route of their preferred distance. Traditionally the classic route of The Ride has been 61.6 KM and the challenge route has been 78.02 KM, so we encourage riders to create a route in their area of those distances, but we understand if that is not possible. Due to the format of this year’s ride and current financial hardships brought about due to COVID-19, we are also dropping the $50 registration fee and dropping the minimum fundraising amount. We of course encourage and welcome any fundraising, but more than anything, we just want to keep the spirit of The Ride alive this year and want riders to get out there an ride to support clean energy research on August 8th.
